back in the 50’s, up & coming car thieves targeted fender skirts and selected hub caps - “wheel covers”. Cadillac “sombreros” come to mind. Anyway, to deter fender skirt thieves some car owners had single-edge razor blades welded to the inner edges of the skirts. Thieves in a hurry and ignorant of just where a blade might be received sliced fingers for their effort.
