There should be no hate crime laws nor should there be any deviance of punishment based on mental state or level. Unless in the most extreme cases where a person literally doesn’t know what they are doing.
Treat everyone the same by the law based on their crime period.
If someone is even remotely aware of their actions they should take the full punishment.
This slippery slope of weighing punishment by IQ level, age (beyond say 12 of age) , gender, social disfranchisement, equity, CRT, thoughts of hate will just continue leading to higher levels of violence.
IMHO it’s time to get tough on crime again.
Come on dude this guy has the IQ of an ash tray. He’s a toddler in the body of a grown ass man.
Even his own parents were worried about him being in the public school and said so!
No one listened and now we have this.
There should be no hate crime laws nor should there be any deviance of punishment based on mental state or level.

I could have posted your comments in their entirety and not changed a single word.
I’ve ranted for years that questions and comments concerning “motive” should never be permitted at any trial with one exception, and that is if the motive for assault or killing someone was self-defense or the defense of another innocent person. Otherwise consideration of motive is simply a tactic used to mitigate a defendant’s guilt.
I’m also opposed to plea bargaining, parole, and country club prisons.
TOO BAD THE PEOPLE THAT KEEP PUTTING SUCH KIDS INTO THE SCHOOLS ARE NEVER THE VICTIMS.
