Daryl Hall has filed a lawsuit against his Hall & Oates bandmate John Oates.
The Grammy-nominated duo have broken up and reunited several times throughout their career with Hall, 77 and his trust, The Daryl Hall Revocable Trust, now suing Oates, 75, as well as his individual trust, The John W. Oates TISA Trust and its co-trustees, in the Nashville Chancery Court on Nov. 16, per The Philadelphia Inquirer.
With the documents being sealed and classified as a 'contract/debt' matter and neither party yet to make a statement on the situation, details of the lawsuit are slim.
However, TMZ claims the pair were 'in arbitration over some dispute,' possibly 'over division of royalties, or it could be over Oates singing their songs in solo acts'.
The outlet also reported Hall requested a restraining order against Oates, which the judge granted.

Sheesh, there must have been a lot of pent-up rancor and tension working together for so many years. Sad to see. Not the biggest fan of their work but their work was certainly a part of my playlists in the 80s for me.

“or it could be over Oates singing their songs in solo acts”
I hardly think that can be the point, since Daryl regularly sang their songs in his solo podcast, without Oates (Oates did come on the podcast once or twice though).

Hall was Hall & Oats just like Paul Simon was Simon and Garfunkel.
To: DIRTYSECRET
Artie had the voice of an angel. Not the songwriter of Paul’s caliber for sure but I love to hear him sing.

Hall did most the of the song writing. And had all the cool partnerships outside H&O. Daryl’s Place is the best music show out there.

"Bridge Over Troubled Water" is the rebuttal. "Still Crazy" isn't "Bookends". Different feel when you take Art out.

But Oates didn’t even sing a lot. Maybe he got to do one lead vocal on an album.

Word is one of them wants to sell their backcatalog for big $$$ and the other doesnt.
To: DeathBeforeDishonor1
Interesting. You’d think Hall would have the most say in that as he wrote most of the songs. I wonder if Oates has been pushing him to unload like so many other artists recently?

What did the Captain do?
He played about three keyboards at a time. I think he also helped with arrangements.
