I used to run a string of Plott Hounds and bear hunted a lot...I was still young and while some hunters spread out in a huge circle while the dogs ran the bear, I chased the pack in case the bear “treed”...Because of moving so much through the woods and up and down in the mountains, I carried that Ruger instead of a rifle...
Well tha much I would understand; a handgun is infinitely more maneuverable than any rifle. When a split second could mean life or death, I’ll take the handgun.
Had to look that dog breed up; very impressive looking animals. Similar in stature to the Walker coon hound I used to have but appear to have a bit of spaniel in the shape of the head.
We hunted bear in Tennessee, North Carolina, Ontario, Canada...
Hunted Russian Boar in Tennessee and even Javelinas in southern Texas...
Just moved to Southern Texas, been thinking about going on a wild boar hunt, any pointers?
Need to hunt hogs with dogs...Other than that, scout area and find mudholes where the hogs wallow...Then just set up a stand...
