Wholly accurate. The misuse of the word itself is among their tricks.
Years back, I had read a fascinating op-ed in Germany, to the effect that there were actually no true conservative parties -- in the sense of small, less invasive government -- in Europe. As the decades have passed, I come to agree more and more with this view.
One form of big state opposes another form of big state based simply on what a party wants and another party opposes in favor of other big state goals.
As was also observed years ago in an anthropology class, no village ever had two competing witch doctors. And in storytelling, the village fool always hated competition for being the most foolish....
--- "The RIGHT in Europe is really LEFTISTS"
In other words a lunatic.
Jewish Hanukkah candles?
Are there any other kinds?....................
Exactly. Every country has their share, and we are certainly no exception.
Many of the “right-wing” parties in Europe that speak out against immigration are very strongly in favor of welfare and other government social safety net programs. They just realize that mass immigration imperils those spending programs and are anti-immigration for that reason.
Poland’s history during the Holocaust was not always good.
Couple points:
1) He is a leader of a very small out of mainstream party.
They are in opposition to all other parties, right or left.
2) What stuns me, but is it unfortunately sign of the times, very common everywhere in the world - There is a crowd of people, all having cameras and cell phones, following him everywhere, but nobody tries to stop him?!
There was no Poland during The Holocaust.
Nazi.
I inferred that from his love of the EU. And there really is very little daylight between a commie and a nazi. There is a reason the National Socialist German Workers Party has a red flag.
Always amazes me that some see nazis as anti-communist.
The current “Pope” is not a Catholic. He’s an Argentinian Socialist.
I think that an accurate assessment. Putting quotes about "right-wing" seems apt, since among the terms I used to read so often in German and French press used "centre-right" as if conservative. Welfarism is a problem, for a safety net is a lovely idea, but a safety net into which too many jump is a failing system. And of course what such as Britain's Labour and Germany's SPD favor, until....
The real answer seems productivity in national ecnomies, such that these economies can pay for their programs. I think Trump hit a nerve by suggesting, as many others before but with less coverage, that the US has essentially assisted in paying for European welfare budgets by allowing less than the full and agreed upon NATO expenditures. I know from first hand knowledge that under Merkel, Germany was not. Ergo, the irritation Trump caused.
Agree.
He did the right thing, in Knesset christmas tree has been banned since 2013. Tit for tat....
Holland is a real piece of work, ain’t she?
