Anonymous Tik Toker “Kevin” is full of crap in every one of his speculations. The tanks are chemically cleaned on a more than needed basis and pots are emptied in the galley sink.

United Airlines uses Illys coffee and by contract even has an extra water filtration system for the coffee makers.

Pro Tip: Coffee from the aft galley always tastes better.

I came to say something similar. I work Maintenance Programs for a Part 121 airline, and I’ve seen the maintenance manual task(s) and corresponding task cards for disinfecting potable water tanks, cleaning galley water filters, and so on for the 747, 767, and 777 family of aircraft.

The prospect of driving a few hours after returning from Europe demands pre-gaming on airline coffee. Glad its safe to drink.
