The total combat losses of the enemy from 24.02.22 to 17.12.23 were approximately:

• personnel ‒ about 346070 (+1250) persons,
• tanks ‒ 5739 (+19),
• APV ‒ 10692 (+25),
• artillery systems – 8137 (+37) од,
• MLRS – 923 (+3),
• Anti-aircraft warfare systems ‒ 609 (+4),
• aircraft – 324 (+0),
• helicopters – 324 (+0),
• UAV operational-tactical level – 6278 (+40),
• cruise missiles ‒ 1610 (+1),
• warships / boats ‒ 22 (+0),
• submarines - 1 (+0),
• vehicles and fuel tanks – 10766 (+56),
• special equipment ‒ 1194 (+4)

Before the war, Russia held the Eastern most oblasts. They attacked, tried to take Ukraine in a two week blitz, and by September lost everything they gained. Their attacks in Bakhmut, Vuhledar, and Avdiivka are because the roads in Russian held Ukraine lead there, not because they open up opportunities to advance. These are political goals to prop up Putin on Russian state news and keep the Russian population from complaining to much, as if they have any real voice in Russian politics. These are not real operational gains.

The Ukrainian offensive did not achieve its goals of taking back territory. Russia has not achieved its goal of taking over Ukraine for 20 months. Ukraine is getting newer and newer Western weapons like ATACMS. Russia is putting obsolete 25mm AA guns and ASW rocket launchers on MT-LB tractors. Putin has been unable to get what he wants and is scrapping the bottom of every barrel he can find just to keep what he has and advance a few blocks or hectares of farmland per week.

The idea Russia can take all of Southern and Eastern Ukraine over the next two years, three oblasts no Russian army or proxy set one foot, is insane. It is another five year plan everyone knows will cost too much, have most of it embezzled, and never happen.
