Where are the statesmen? We have lots of politicians, firebrands, bureaucrats and apparatchiks but almost no principled leaders with foresight and courage.
The charlatans and grifters, however, are legion. Maybe people should start voting on the basis of character, convictions and results instead of rhetoric and lies.

The problem now is to many people don’t know what that all means. They don’t know right from wrong. They only understand their own self interests and desires.
