IMO-—PUTIN IS DETERMINED TO PUT THE “SOVIET UNION” ALL BACK TOGETHER.

HE WANTS THAT TO BE HIS LEGACY IN HISTORY BOOKS

I don’t think American politics has a direct analog for the speaker who said that. The guy who said that is somewhat important, but more like, say, Ted Cruise. Suppose Ted said, “We plan on annexing Cuba.” That’s not American policy and there would be a lot in the way of doing that just in the American political spectrum. What I gather is going on in Russia is some Russians are trying to be more patriotic and militant than thou. It’s along the lines of, “hey, you can’t arrest me for not supporting the Special Military Operation. I not only support it, I think it hasn’t gone far enough.” Call it a kind of cultural hysteria.

While I agree with Peter Zeihan that Putin is trying to reestablish the Russian/USSR empire, I think that regardless of how Ukraine ends, it will be ten years before they do anything else as stupid. By that time Putin will be dead and someone else will be in charge.

"Maybe when Putin is knocking on the door of Nova Scotia, some of the Putinistas on the board will be a little charmed by Vlad."

Maybe Europe can wake up, and take care of their own problems in their neck of the woods, and stop bankrupting this country to fight yet another proxy war with Russia in a country we have no national security interest in.

Inside Russia is some guy by the name of Konstantin Samoilov who runs a pro west, pro CIA, “rules based international order” YouTube channel. He’s basically the Michael Moore of Moscow. Stop consuming outrage propaganda for the dopamine hits.

Supporting Russia’s conquering a first major step in rebuilding the evil empire to rebuild an even greater threat to America and the West than it already is, is a strange position for an American.

If the Neocons force Russia to also liberate Uzbekistan, then, as we say in the Arab World, “Tough Shiite”.

"Next stop, London"

Foreigners already make up the majority of London's population today.

We have a huge interest in Russia and their ability and willingness to destroy us for their constant search for world power.

Let Europe fight their own battles for a change. We saved their asses twice in the past, or is third time supposed to be the charm?

You need to learn what the foreign military threats to America are, think Russia and China.

I will give you the less freedom part. But only a little.

Imperial Russia was a very repressive place. They used to send people around the world to take out dissidents in exile and as for freedom of the press, speech or religion, nyet!

No, they are not quite the USSR. The USSR would have cracked down on crime. Of course what they considered crime was subject to being what most places would consider virtues. Like being able to grow enough to eat and a bit to sell at the market.

Since Russia can currently feed it's self they are not back to USSR levels.

Russia has a constant search for world power?

Russian military bases worldwide 21
American military bases worldwide 750+

And Russia is nearly twice the size of the USA.

Heaven forfend, he might take over America, ban LGBT indoctrination in schools, dismantle DEI initiatives, and send Black Rock executives to the gulags.

How about stop Russia in Ukraine, and cure them of their territorial ambitions. Russia historically has had two contradictory movements. Sometimes they are insular and isolationist, and sometimes they want to expand. I prefer them as isolationists. If everyone minded their own damned business and kept their armies at home, the world would be better off. Humiliating quagmires are the best medicine for imperialism. Russia, once caught in one, will hopefully lose its appetite for further adventurism. They have a beautiful language, breathtaking architecture, a warm, hospitable culture, and a rich literature. Let them cultivate that once they are chastised, regardless of who is at the helm.

38 minute monologue, I think not. Thanks for digesting the key points.

I suspect Kazakhstan is going to have something to say about Russia getting to Uzbekistan. It is 520 miles from the border of Russia to Uzbekistan which is just under the distance across The Ukraine.
