College football is almost unwatchable now. The playoffs are were a bad development, bowls were better. But the portal and NIL made it worse, and getting rid of conferences made it even worse.
Amen! Preach on! We need to go back to the bowls and have the sports writers and computer geeks duke it out over who wins the National Championship.
When I watch college football, it looks like a bunch of rug rats in a playpen.
BS. We needed a playoff system at the top level, just like they have at the other levels in the NCAA. We should have a system to determine the true champion, not some vote by the media and coaches. Decide it on the field.
Look how March Madness has made the NCAA basketball playoffs one of the most watched sporting events in the country.
The 12 team playoff system next year should reduce the number of future NFL prospects opting out of the bowl games. The transfer portal system should not begin until after the playoffs.
The game has certainly changed. And definitely not for the better. Personally, I had no problem with the old bowl system. Sure there were occasional controversies but those just led to more college football talk. And NIL is a total game-changer. But I still prefer college ball - NFL teams up and move too much, change names, and have no fealty to their fans. Whereas college and the alums have a deep unbreakable tie.
Just so. It’s all about the money, including the pseudo-professional playoff system. In many ways big college football as we knew it, is dead. Money killed it.
I liken it to.. "Pro Football WITHOUT a CONTRACT!"
It's ALL about the MONEY.. and like Cyndy Lauper's song from decades ago.. "Money Changes Everything"
The overtime ordeal ruined college football.
