If it puts AT&T, Verizon, and T-mobile out of business, I’m all for it.

Yeah, but - Musk is using way more than his share of our communications satellite orbits. Or something.

If he gave a billion to the pro-life supporters I’d like him.

They’ll bribe the FCC to put him out of business first.

In 2023, SpaceX completed 96 successful missions, safely flew 12 more astronauts to orbit, launched two flight tests of Starship, and more than doubled the number of people around the world connected by @Starlink.Musk Speech to Starlink Employees

Here's a funny coincidence. In the PC Mag article is an image for the "StarLink Community Gateway", with this picture:
Look familiar??? Maybe because this is the default "Bliss" background from Windows XP:

Yeah, err, not likely. It’s dead slow.
“In his speech, Musk said the cellular Starlink system is designed to supply about 7Mbps per cell. “And the cells are hundreds of square miles, kilometers in size. So it’s good for text messages,” he said. “You could technically do video if you’re the only one, or if there’s only a few people in that cell, like if you’re in the middle of the Pacific.””

Bandwidth is everything, they tell me. Musk’s impact grows almost daily. Internet in the boondocks with a hand-held device. When my grandkids are on safari, they’ll be able to text me.

Will it provide just internet, or can it be used for, say, TV?

I've had the original Starlink dish for almost 4 years. It's been bullet-proof. I can't think of one thing to complain about.
Of course, I came to it after enduring 2 years of HughesNet.

Does this mean we won’t need cell towers or will they complement star-link?
I’m already seeing plenty of phone/cable drop wires being cut at the houses dangling at the poles.
