During it's original run, it wasn't until the episode of Northern Exposure where John Cullum sings that I realized that he was the South Carolina delegate Rutledge to the Continental Congress in the show and movie "1776" who sings "Molasses to Rum."

A lot of actors have surprised me that way. Some who were singers before they were actors.
