It’s Time to Go Back to Uranus. What Questions do Scientists Have About the Ice Giants?

There is a new theory (part of Grand Tack) that Uranus and Neptune switched places at some early time, and in doing so possibly passed close to one another. That may be what caused Uranus to flip on its axis, and why the moons of both have such convoluted surfaces including melting and tidal deformations.

And we have found so infinitesimally small a sample as to be insignificant.

Our sensors are not yet capable of detecting an earth size planet around a Sol sized Class-M star at the distance of Earth from the Sun.

At present, we can only detect planets whose orbits are close to the star and revolve in days not months. Until we can monitor a star for an entire Earth year and see the transitions as it crosses in from to its host star will we be able to say we are unique or not....................

I’ll be 64. Took about 15 years for New Horizons to get to Pluto. We did at least get to see a “planet” that has never been seen before, so thats something.

Yeah, it was pretty exciting to see. Well, we do have SpaceX’s Starship, Artemis going to the Moon (hopefully), some pretty exciting things going on.

Solar system contains many asteroids, some of which became satellites of Uranus. They are now known as hemmorhoids.

Perhaps Jupiter and to a lesser degree Saturn have picked up a lot more “contaminants” from the Asteroid Belt? Plus more effect(s) from the Sun to keep things active??

I suspect that most of the color people attribute to all these planets is in fact false color added by NASA for its own reasons.
