You can find this fun quotation puzzle, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications. I challenge us with the best ones out there.

The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).

Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated, youÔÇÖll be solving them all within a few days. If youÔÇÖre stumped, take a break and return to it.

PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and how you made out.

You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for todayÔÇÖs Cryptogram ASK THE GROUP FOR HELP!

I suggest printing these out and work them on paper. If you need a little help you can copy and paste it to HalÔÇÖs Helper below.

You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper, but I recommend that you do NOT look at the letter counter.

HAL'S CRYPTOGRAM HELPER

One last request. Feel free to post a fun or clever clue, the more tangential to the quotation the better, but please donÔÇÖt put the actual words of the quote in the clue. If you need a clue ask the group to send you a letter to your private reply. 4 minutes good 3 minutes excellent 2 minutes exceptional 90 seconds superior

Hiya kids! Hiya, Hiya!

Good Morning Crypto-FReepers.

I see some of the same old faces out there.

But that's OK - I like you anyway.

Here's today's quote!

I know, I know, the author is a really old dude!!

I met him once when I was younger, just a squirmy little tadpole!!

400 G.W. is a dead giveaway!

Try it without Hal's Helper, it's more fun that way, I think.

Have fun!!!

Ha Ha Ha!

I'm expecting some really good, 400 G.W. clues!!

I'll be good - I will, (like heck) I will!

Ha ha ha.

Where'd I put my magic twanger? Oh, here it is - - -boinng!

SIKZFA (of Heraclea) and Parrhasius (of Ephesus and later Athens) were painters who flourished during the 5th century BCE. They are reported four hundred years later in the Naturalis Historia of Pliny the Elder to have staged a contest to determine which of the two was the greater artist. When SIKZFA unveiled his painting of grapes, they appeared so luscious and inviting that birds flew down from the sky to peck at them. SIKZFA then asked Parrhasius to pull aside the curtain from his painting, only for Parrhasius to reveal the curtain itself was a painting, and Zeuxis was forced to concede defeat. SIKZFA is rumoured to have said: 'I have deceived the birds, but Parrhasius has deceived SIKZFA

my dad says you don't work hard enough on defense.

LISTEN, KID! I've been hearing that crap ever since I was at UCLA. I'm out there busting my buns every night! Tell your old man to drag Walton and Lanier up and down the court for 48 minutes!
