YUKON, Okla. (TND) — An Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper is expected to be okay following a scary incident along a busy roadway.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol shared a video Wednesday that shows Trooper Jesse Gregory conducting a traffic stop on I-40 at Cimarron Road.
In the video, you can see Trooper Gregory speaking to the driver of the vehicle he had pulled over through the passenger side window when another vehicle ran into them.

I'm sure a cell phone played a part
I live in Oklahoma. The cell phone use while driving is the worst I’ve ever seen. Unfortunately, Oklahoma allows dark tenting on windows, so many believe that they cannot be seen. I think that there should be a minimum $5,000 fine.
Just as likely the department bears some blame. A friend who manufacturers emergency vehicle equipment told me that my supposition is correct. Collisions with parked emergency vehicles have increased.
Much if it is due to the strobe lights. They do good job of warning and visibility, but our eyes are naturally drawn to light and sometimes the steering wheel follows. When a police car had one light bar it was OK. Now, they have sometimes dozens of red and blue strobes, which are absolutely blinding.
I once almost hit two deputy’s who were standing in the street at night about four feet away from their car wearing dark leather jackets. I was a full lane over and literally didn’t see these guys until I was about ten feet behind their cruiser.
Yarp. TWD.
Was the driver Israeli?
“I’m sure a cell phone played a part”
I recall a study that showed that people sometimes fall into a semi-hypnotic state when driving and will mistake vehicles on the side of the road for vehicles in their lane.
And then drive straight at them in order to ‘follow’ them.
Maybe cops might want to rethink stopping people on the highway and instead direct them to pull off at the next exit for the safety of everyone involved.
That was an OMG! moment
In California this becoming a more common practice to pull off the highway to a safer side road or parking lot
I think it is way safer to get off highway....
