Black History Month began as Negro History Week, started by a black scholar. It later was extended to be for a whole month (leading to complaints that the shortest month of the year was chosen for that--but that is because of its origins). I think the original choice was because of Lincoln's birthday.

Nowadays every month is Black History Month and February is just Black History Month with Sprinkles on Top.

I thought the sprinkles were in June, now “Pride Month.”
I prefer drinking holidays like St. Patty’s or Cinco de Mayo. Cheers, FRiend.
