There is no analog TV anymore it’s all digital.
ATSC 1 is the the standard digital tuner in nearly all TV’s. I see no effort to sunset that standard. They can’t track you through ATSC 1. This is the only way to watch the Super Bowl without giving the NFL anything unlike streaming.
ATSC 3 is a different (and rare standard in very few TVs) that allows 4k signals over the air and high quality audio.
For us audio/video buffs it’s all the hi-fi quality of the content. However that’s not how content providers are viewing it. ATSC 3 allows the addition of DRM (digital rights management) which can make it impossible to record or even view content without authorization.
I think this should be illegal because they are limiting access to public property (the airwaves).

DRM compliant ATSC 3.0 tuners for TV’s and OTA DVR’s are already on the market.

Rare in middle to low end TV’s. Common in high end LG, Samsung, Sony and Hisense.
