Senate GOP helps advance borderless foreign aid bill
Politico ^

The Senate advanced the national security supplemental delivering tens of billions of dollars in aid to Ukraine, Taiwan and Israel, putting the legislation on the potential path to passage in the coming days.

After months of bipartisan handwringing, enough Republican senators voted to advance the bill to put it over the 60-vote threshold, after they rejected a version that included border policy changes on Wednesday. But there's a ways to go yet — senators are still negotiating the terms of eventual passage.

(snip)

The Republican senators who supported advancing the legislation were: GOP Leader Mitch McConnell, Senate Minority Whip John Thune of South Dakota, Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, Susan Collins of Maine, Joni Ernst of Iowa, John Kennedy of Louisiana, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Mitt Romney of Utah, Dan Sullivan of Alaska, Roger Wicker of Mississippi, Todd Young of Indiana, Thom Tillis of North Carolina, Mike Rounds of South Dakota, John Cornyn of Texas, Chuck Grassley of Iowa, Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia and Jerry Moran of Kansas.

It’s not good for my BP either!!

Sad to see Kennedy sell out.

Hopefully, there still won’t be sufficient votes for the final passage.

Foreign aid my rump. It’s time to defund that scam. All the foreigners now live here. The sh*tholes they crawled out don’t need foreign aid anymore.

With few exceptions Senate Republicans are nothing but assistant Democrats. There is a reason they made the most hated politician in the country the Senate minority leader and it wasn’t even close

Nothing is going to be done about the border as long as the "Biden" junta is in charge, no matter what Congress passes. The border "security" bill just shot down did not even require any detention until either 5,000 or 8,000 illegal entries per day were recorded and also authorized DHS to issue unlimited "asylum" approvals without a hearing. It was worse than nothing.

If you want the border secured and illegals deported then elect Trump.

As far as Israel and Ukraine go, Israel has a lower debt to GDP ratio than we do, so why are we giving borrowed money away? Ukraine I think is necessary to hold Russia in check and it's not as though they can pay for US weaponry while Israel can.

8 of that 17 will have to switch to stop it.

All the talk about close the border before anyone else gets money proves bogus.

Senator Cornyn,

I understand the vote on the Foreign Aid to Ukraine was just procedural. I, as a constituent, hope your leanings are to deny this much taxpayer aid to secure Ukraine’s border.

For perspective, $60 Billion is the entire budget of the US Marine Corp plus a 15% tip. This isn’t even addressing how much of the additional humanitarian aid will be targeted to Ukraine.

When viewed in this light, which is quickly spreading on social media, your constituents are starting to be highly opposed to this aid.

When will enough be enough for Ukraine? $113 Billion plus another $60+Billion apparently won’t be enough. That is equal to the entire US Army budget or the US Navy budget.

Sincerely,

************

We shall see.

EC

Todd Young of Indiana

Once again, Todd Young is on the wrong side. Betcha Hoosiers are angry they voted him into office. I sure am!
