SPY = S&P 500 (stocks).

TLT = the largest long term bond fund.

Note that in the long term, stocks are much better than bonds, even through the 2008 Globalist-caused mortgage crisis, and through the Globalist-caused Covid-19 crisis, by about 3 to 1.

This shows how stupid Steven Spielberg has been, investing most of his money and bonds over the past 40 years. He would probably be worth over 20 billion if he had invested in the S&P 500

Ha! My very conundrum.

I’ve decided to phase out of timing the market, and phase into dollar cost averaging. I will probably keep a third or so into my “discretionary” investing, with a third in a SP500 ETF (VOO), and a third in a tech ETF (VGT).

I think TPTB will juice the market between now and election day, more so as we approach November, but that’s just me.

Yeah, poor guy. What a maroon!

In fairness, not everyone’s risk tolerance is the same, and that’s OK. One has to do what one has to do in order to sleep at night.

And also in fairness, he’s worth $8 billion. How does your life really change if you are worth $8 billion or $20 billion?

Plus, I’ll bet he owns some really juicy/pricey real estate, in addition to the 5% stake he still holds in Dreamworks.

I’ve done well with mutual funds over the years with with most of my money in a info & tech fund (SLMCX). Over 10 years I contributed around 50k into the fund before I stopped making contributions(workplace stopped working with fund provider). 20 years after my last contribution my account was around 500k. There were some down years over that time, usually around midterm and presidential elections, but tech funds over time are good investments in my opinion. During this administration, and since I am retired, I am much more conservative and only have about a sixth of my money in tech funds, the rest in short term US treasury, money markets, and cds. Hopefully Trump will get reelected and I will loosen probably put more back in tech. I don’t trust anything right now with the administration we have running the show.

As far as TPTB juicing the market, they may, but if they see that a Trump win is unstoppable, they may push it the other way to say look markets are responding to Trumps lead. Also I am very wary of a black swan event this year which will tank the markets like 9/11, and the 2008 crash.

How do you know how Spielberg has invested his money?

” stocks are much better than bonds,”

Well ......that depends ...

If I wanted to park my money some where safe and just sort of .. hold what I have ... bonds are safe. Sleep sound and go on vacation. Don't play the game.

OR ... bonds move slower and can be more predictable .... so ..look at the 10yr over the last week.
The yield has moved from 4.10 to over 4.3 ... if your holding
4.1 hmmmm ..tough. But if you
bought 4.3 , your in the money and yields are falling as I wright.
Will we see 4.1 again ...I think so... yields have to come down for the market to run.
Will there come a time when traders demand higher yields to finance the debt? maybe..
But for now it's a pretty good trade buying on the up yield and selling on the down.
..... not finical advise ... for entertainment only
