Isn't that the truth? They ALWAYS find something else because it's about nothing but money and power to them. They look all the time for new vehicles to use to amass power and steal money.
You can see the next complaint coming will be:
"Electricity is unaffordable! People are going without heat and AC! People are freezing and dying in the winter because houses are so cold and people are dying of heatstroke in the summer because they can't afford AC! It's only corporate GREED that caused electricity prices to explode! We need nationalize all utilities AND create a new federal program to pay peoples' utility bills."And the ratchet goes "click" another time.

and yep- that is going to be the next line of attack- they will increase electric prices (they already are) until it becomes unaffordable - then blame it on republicans somehow, and state just what you said-

What ever happened to the “TRUTH”?

It is only good for around 16 years, so the only way they can get Hep B is to use needle drugs, or have sex with an older guy. Measles, mumps, rubella... easily survivable. Coal belongs in the dust bin of history. You cannot eat the fish from the lake where my weekender lake house is because it is loaded with mercury directly linked via isotopic analysis to the coal power plant upwind of the watersheds. SMU and the study I helped with the geochem and hydrogeo on it as it was of interest to why the fish is inedible. Even with scrubbers costing as much as the plant itself coal cannot by physics be as clean as natural gas or better yet nuclear power. The nitrogen in the flue gasses and the fact that mercury and other heavy metals form vapors on coal fire temps means you will never get coal flue gas clean let alone NOx,SOx and PM2.5 PM down to any thing close to what a gas turbine can meet at any scrubbers cost. You can with Herculean technical efforts and costs gasify coal into syngas analytically clean that gas up down to ppm levels of heavy metals and sulfur then burn that has in gas turbines the stack gasses will still be dirtier than just burning natural gas you still have NOx and still have a huge pile of forever chemically toxic coal ash that needs to be isolated from the biosphere for eternity because unlike spent fuel coal ash never decays to be nontoxic.
Nuclear is the cleanest form of power humans have ever come up with. Spent fuel is 96% fuel still J.Carter should be charged with crimes against humanity for his role in making spent fuel a political problem and killing our reprocessing program. Nuclear and thin film PN solar are the future one way or the other resource depletion will make that the case be it in 50 years at 2022 consumption levels much faster when Asia,India and Africa come to the party demanding their portion of the resources. Or maybe 100 if we trashed the atmosphere with coal smoke and the watersheds with ash piles. Burning out every coal seam we can find while replacing liquid hydrocarbons with synthetic fuels and lubricants. At consumption rates of 5 billion at Western energy levels that leave 4 billion still in energy poverty half of them young fighting age males not a plan for peace or success. At 5 billion people living at Western consumption levels coal doesn’t last 400 years it lasts under 100, liquid hydrocarbons are gone in a decade at any price, methane hydrates if extractable 8 times as much carbon to burn than liquid hydrocarbons and coal ever did. The deposits are spread across the planet and the instability curve right up against it’s metastable state in nature so don’t be around if you kick-off a destabilizing event.
Or we can use the resources we have to move to nuclear and that big thermonuclear reactor in the sky to power our species and stop thinking only about nation states if anything the 21st century will show is that the traditional nation state is dead commodities,resources and human capital is fungible and global. Lines on a map are for politicians to get wealthy off and corporations to exploit for profits to the average person they are meaningless products ,services and people cross the lines at will.
