It would be nice if they quit [drastically] changing the rules every six months, handcuffing good, emerging players and making the game LESS competitive.
Millennials always think they are a inventing something new, like homemade pickles.
Latest fad. Everyone will be chuckling about it in a few years. Remember 2hen we…
In other words, it’s a cross between tennis and pong-pong.
Very informative. Thank you.
I had no idea. But no, I’m not gonna ramble about how I don’t care, I hate sports, I boycotted the NFL since 1492, I never owned a TV, I never drank Bud Light, the good guy who wounded the perp should have spent more time at the range, and….
Former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is big time into Pickleball in Louisiana bringing tournaments there and elsewhere.
If everything becomes an Olympic sport, nothing will be
I’d rather waych the newest Olympic sport of break dancing.
I’d be more of a fan of the sport if, like table tennis, the racket would allow one to impart more spin on the ball.
But as it stands, the racket is a smooth, hard surface. So no real spin, and no sweet spot per se to give that wonderful feeling of a properly hit baseball/softball, tennis ball, golf ball, and maybe especially, volleyball.
We have a blast playing this as a family. The Mrs. and I are also now finding friends our age that play, and look forward to it. It’s a good time.
Don’t take all the fun out of it by making it a professional sport!
The stats should include how many orthopedic injuries there have been since the Pickleball craze started.
Looks like tennis for old, fat people.
I had never heard of pickleball until several months ago after reading that new sports complex near me will have 12 pickleball courts. My young friend told me it’s been around a while.
Put it right up there with Darts and Pin the Tail on Donkey.
Unlike tennis, which is boring, antisocial, and ineffective as exercise ...
Let’s hope it goes the way of racketball and dies so we can get our tennis courts back.
My take is Pickleball is a total scam. Nobody plays tennis anymore so park had to come with the idea of tennis lite. It is similar to the idea of playing footsie with a bean bag. The local park district put in sand pits a decade or so ago and I have never seen one in use during my daily walks..
Pickleball is tennis for 50 something former tennis players who can’t afford another acl tear.
The courts are small enough that people are building them into their yards, and the game is TOO DAMN NOISY for the innocent neighbors who are not playing to listen to, especially all night!
"Homeowner associations" are going to need to ban them in yards and where already constructed seriously limit the hours, eg, no pickleball after dark. Then build a well isolated area for community courts.
They also need to develop a ball and paddles that are quieter and ban the noisy equipment! Invention opportunity!

Pickle ball is kind of a big dill...not gerkin ya around...
