Somethings never change. In the 80’s I was subjected to audits every year for 5 years straight. I was a union pipefitter just making wages. I was taken to the office of my assigned agent during one of my in person meetings. He had a sign hanging on the wall that said “Seizure Fever. CATCH IT!”.

He even told me that he had “purchased” 6 corvettes at IRS property auctions.

I see a lot of openings for that agency on Gov Jobs.

Wonder why?

The Deep State wants lots and lots of loyal Minions for their evil purposes...

I had a co-worker who was one of those guys who jumped on the “my wages are not income according to the tax code...” back in the late 90’s. He was a government employee (CBP agent), and was called in for an audit. He had all his documents with him and he brought along a voice recorder. He played it for a group of us and I sat there and listened to the recording with a gaping mouth. The audacity of the women, anyway, she asked him for his documents and he asked her for the letter giving her the authority IAW... They went back and forth on the letter and she then said, “for the record you are refusing to turn over your documents.” He replied “for the record you are refusing to provide the letter...”. She had enough and called security into the room. Two agents walked in, looked at my friend and said “Hey Jim”. He said the look on her face was priceless-she got up and stormed out of the room. I haven’t heard from or about him since. Hmm.

My late father-in-law worked for the IRS for one year in the 1950’s. Nearing his anniversary date he went in and asked his supervisor for a meeting and the guy said great I was about to call you in for a meeting, we want to promote you to a new position. My FIL said I was actually going to give you notice that I was leaving the agency. What? Why? You are going to have a great career, why would you leave? My FIL said after a year of working here I have come to realize I am playing for the wrong team. The supervisor was stunned. He worked his notice, worked as a CPA until his death and never looked back. The only agency he hated more than the IRS or ATF was possibly the Kentucky Revenue Cabinet.

He worked for a client at one point who the IRS went after for taxes he allegedly didn’t pay. My FIL and the client showed evidence that this was settled law in several US districts and no taxes were owed. The IRS doubled down and during discovery they found the IRS powers that be knew they were in the wrong and that they would lose the case but openly stated continue, we will destroy the taxpayers business and bankrupt him for daring to defy us. My FIL and the clients attorney presented this in court and the judge went ballistic for indeed they had destroyed the taxpayers business and were about to bankrupt him. The judge awarded the case to the taxpayer, he got court costs, attorneys fees, any other expenses associated with the case and as an added swipe of wrath toward the IRS a substantial chunk of $ for punitive damages.
