The supervisor, the owner of the franchise, and perhaps Dairy Queen Inc. had better fervently hope so.

If I were the employee back at that age, the manager had better really be on his game.
It should be a standing order that food service and food packaging staff have to eat the food or else quit.
Years ago, I had a friend who received a box of chocolates and complained of the taste. It smelled like automotive parts cleaner which I was very familiar with having worked with it quite a bit. It was mixed right into the chocolate.
The company, a well-known brand, had clearly cut corners after repairing or maintaining a piece of machinery as they were approaching St. Valentine's Day.
I ended up calling their customer support line, gave them the lot number, and even gave them the brand of parts cleaner that had been used on the components installed on their machine.
Those kids shoulda said pound sand, go across the street and make $17/ hr at McD’s.
Bottom line, nobody should force anybody to eat something they don’t want too. Hope each kid gets a full paid scholarship at least. And of course, the manager in jail for 25 years.

Let me guess, they cleaned the machine, and didn’t rinse it clear of the solution. They then made ice cream. He was making a point, YOU WON’T EAT IT BUT YOU’LL sell it to customers”? He said EAT THIS, they refused because they knew it was bad. Some idiots tasted it and decided they could file a lawsuit. The idiots were probably correct.
If they used chlorine bleach to clean the machine, you can ingest small amounts. In fact we do it when we drink tap water. I use 1 capful in 1 cup of water as mouthwash once a week. It is great, my receding gums grew back healthy.

When I was about 15 I worked in a pizza place. The owner accused me of stealing money from the cash register and grabbed me by the throat and made me empty my pockets. If I remember right I had $3. I went home and told my mom what happened. She immediately called the cops and had me tell them what happened. Needless to say I never went back to work ther.
Mom just happened to be the Chairperson of the Police Pension Board at the time. A couple weeks later a couple of cops met the owner as he was closing up for the night and gave him a bit of an attitude adjustment.
Later on we learned it was his own kid was who was stealing.

It's definitely BIDEN'S FAULT!
As a former DQ franchisee with three locations I refrained from attempting to train teens how to properly disassemble, clean and reassemble what are, arguably, the heart of your profit making. Since I couldn’t be at three stores at once I trained my adult managers to be in charge of cleaning and maintaining the soft serve machines daily to ensure proper product temperature and overrun. At closing teens would empty the machines and then run a warm bleach based sterilized solution into the machine all night to inhibit the growth of bacteria in the closed system. A poor bacteria count from the milk inspector during an unannounced inspection could shut you down for days resulting in a fine and degradation of your reputation. Again, too much invested to leave to the whims of a teenager.
Classic, in many ways.
If the employee signed off on the cleaning checklist, it’s on them.
That’s a gratifying story.
Yeah, I know. So, at 17 her daughter is is unable to legally sign for anything AND she can be forced to consume toxic substances too. (After all, it is illegal to refuse your boss,right?) Her outraged mom needs to ask a few more questions about what happened before she takes action. I heard that sometimes a 17 year old will lie.
