The Ottoman Turk Emperor Selim II (who is most known for being ruler during loss of Battle of Lepanto) was born of a blond-concubine taken from Crimea (a ‘slav’) who was the harem favorite of “Sulemein the Magnificent.”

There’s a very popular Turkish TV series called “The Magnificent Century” staring German-Turkish Actress Meryem Urzurli, who played this woman, named Hurrem Sultan

So in our very typically narrow and politicized way, Americans know nothing of “white slavery” while the rest of the world, particularly the Mid-east, knows all about it, and thinks it was great.

a/k/a Roxelana -- This concubine, born in present-day Ukraine, became the most illustrious and powerful woman in Ottoman history. You can't keep a good woman down.
