Basically, the world has been frozen over (global cooling due to a backfired anti-global warming solution) and a fraction of humanity survives on a luxury train that circles the earth continuously. The inhabitants are chiefly ”elites”, with a section in the rear full of human refuse (ie normal people) who try to storm the front cars every few years. The movie is chiefly about the latest attempt to move through the train to confront “Wilford,” the architect of this train etc.
