Just two days after saying they had no suspects Pennsylvania State Police have arrested a 52-year-old local man and charged him with the murder of Amish mother of two, Rebekah Byler.
The 23-year-old was six months pregnant when she was gunned down in her home in Spartansburg on Monday morning.
Now, after what cops described as an 'exhaustive' five-day investigation the man charged with the murder of Byler and her unborn child has been named as Shawn Cranston.
Cranston, pictured here for the first time, is married to nurse Jamie, 46, was taken into custody Saturday morning when he was arraigned at 4.24am and committed to Crawford County Jail.
His Facebook bio reads: 'I'm someone's worst nightmare if they mess with me and mine'.
Cranston has been charged with criminal homicide, criminal homicide of an unborn child, burglary, and criminal trespass. He is not eligible for bail.
His preliminary hearing is set for March 15.
Cranston's neighbors told DailyMail.com of their shock at horror at his arrest and the violence of the crime with which he is charged.
Police say Byler appeared to have 'cutting wounds to her neck and head' and have confirmed that she was shot.
Paula Stine who lives two houses down from the man now charged with double homicide said, 'I was just shocked. It's frightening to think of how close he was, someone like that and I have grandchildren.'

He himself is probably not Amish, because their men shave the mustache. Cannot imagine his motivation and daring to enter a married woman’s home and shoot a gun, which surely could be heard for a great distance over farmland. Wicked.
Not Amish. I wonder why he did it.
Sounds like Cranston wasn’t getting any at home.
What was the motive here? He just shot her and left? Why?
Mistaken identity, he thought they had adopted his grandson.
If America was importing Amish instead of what Joe Biden is giving us we’d have a much better and safer and more prosperous country.
