Conservation project unlocking Woodlawn Cemetery masoleums from Gilded Age and rediscovering stained glass, including Tiffany windows.
For some reason, I keep thinking of Egyptian tomb art. Favorite is the soul being lifted to heaven. Then the 3 Fates and the Tiffany sunset.

Hopefully, the current crop of illegal vandals in NY won’t break them.

In the late 19th and early 20th century immigration waves, there were many skilled artisans and craftsmen flocking to our shores who brought with them the ability to make such things. In the age of heavy industrialization and mechanization, there was still value in handcrafted unique labors and found a market for such.
Today's immigrants are skilled in assassination, kidnapping, drug running and human trafficking.

Officials at Woodlawn Cemetery first stumbled on the glasswork late last year, in a Gilded Age temple erected for a New York merchant and son of a Spanish general.
So how come I knew all about them forty years ago? Hell Tiffany himself is in a mausoleum in Greenwood cemetery in Brooklyn. I’ve be checking them out for decades.
