Those insurance dongles are bad for your car. That port is for diagnostics only and not full time activity. It works your car computer pretty hard.

CAN protocol is not exactly putting out high-resolution video.

Some vehicles do not power off with the ignition and could, possibly, maybe, could be draining your tired old battery that you never maintained.

I have an older Trailblazer LT with OnStar. I’ve never had an active subscription with it. However, last April I received a letter from my insurance company saying my mileage for 2023 was estimated to be 34K miles and they were substantially raising my rate. I did 34K/4 to get the 3-month total of 8500. It was at 8600 in the first week of April. Right on the money -my money.
