Yes. They’re insane and irrational, like our reparations crowd etc…
But it’s mainly thought control and a way to retaining power.

From Xi’s POV pushing FenFen is revenge for the Opium War, I’d bet. Drug abuse is a CHOICE. The Chinese opium users CHOSE to do so. Americans who die of fentanyl CHOOSE to abuse. Each society had a number of its less than desirable members removed. Fair trade?
