Could be the big one. Personally, I would blame it on climate change. Why? Why not?

A magmatic rupture, which occurs when the Earth's crust splits open for some reason and spills molten rock out, is a natural phenomena that can form new ocean floor, according to Zoe Krauss, a marine seismology PhD candidate at the University of Washington. I don't mean to be unkind, but they went looking for a geology expert, and the best they could find was a college student? Yeah, a PhD candidate is much better than an 18-year old freshman, but still ...

Really NEED to pass legislation or better yet a RESOLUTION against the gases that are going to be admitted into our oceans. The damage will be beyond repair and the injury to aquatic life will be catastrophic!

“Could be the big one.”
Geologists at the University of Washington said...the effects are believed to be mild and not likely impact anyone on land.

No doubt due to the wind farms off Washington's shore.
Makes better sense than the left saying fracking makes fire come out of the water faucet, or global warming causes blizzards.

I agree the wind farms are causing the ground to shake. Plus killing off the birds pisses off Mother Nature.

Seattle may not be a seaport much longer.

PhD candidates may be more up to date than some old-timers. If you’re doing literature review (as you would while working on your own research) you are essentially compelled to read everything new. In this person’s case it sounds like their research is what’s driving the reporting, so they may be the perfect person to talk to.

16,000 feet below the Pacific Ocean? As in below the bottom of the ocean?

But the student is a “Zoe.” That’s +100 diversity points.

Seattle is protected toward the southern end of the enclosed Puget Sound.
Coastal areas, not so much, but then this potential volcano is over three miles down.
