I have ever figured out why we have “monsoons” in America.

It depends on which ocean they are in.

Hurricanes for the Atlantic and typhoons for the Pacific, but monsoons are not tropical cyclones.

The intertropical convergence zone, ITCA, is the meteorological equator and moves north and south every year as the seasons change and the sun moves north and then back south annually.

Long and short of it is, we are too far north. The meteorological equator does not come that far north.
