When the event was over, the "fun" began with a few million people leaving the ideal centerline and headed out of Idaho or off to restaurants for lunch. The roads were jammed even at 9 PM with the exodus of visitors.
“I was in the path of totality of 2 minutes 15 seconds in Idaho. Awesome. The horizon for 360 degrees looked like pre-dawn. Stars were visible around the darkened sun with a perfect ring. As totality waned, the first bright spot on the ring was a brilliant diamond.”
Nice description. Protectourfreedom and I were in eastern Idaho (not at same location). I recall that both of us ran into heavy traffic trying to get back across the Columbia River on the way home.
I had forgotten until you said that that I could see stars. That was so cool! I was just west of Baker, OR at a little higher elevation and sky was crystal clear.
