Not aspropriate for young children, language, nudity, and immoral activity. IMHO Louis did a great job as Drill Instructor.

There is a very explicit sex scene, discussions about whether a woman should get an abortion, suicide, loads of bad language. So not for kids.

Lou Gossett is the best thing about the movie. He’s both intimidating and hilarious. But I don’t even know if I could recommend it to adults for the reasons I listed above.

Lou Gossett, rest in peace.

He came from a Southern family of tradition. And I believe military tradition. He fell for the siren’s song of nooky. In that sense he hosed all that tradition and the weight that goes with it. And fell on his sword. Metaphorically.

He was 6'4" and

" After completing high school, he declined a basketball athletic scholarship to pursue theatre at New York University."

My wife and I saw it at Port Townsend/large scene, and at home/Cable TV.

It is a movie that is best seen on a large scene.

I was somewhat positively prejudiced as a former enlisted Navy, non flight guy.

Over my active duty days ( non air dale), we got to know a few Navy pilots and their wives.

The guys had survived one of the most demanding and dangerous jobs in our Navy. Also, the wives had to put up with the “Air Dale” demeanor of the pilot husbands.

All of these Navy pilots and their wives liked this movie.

We don’t recommend it for children under 18.

Very good flick.
Reminds us what serving in the military USED to mean.

I thought his best was “The Skin Game”. Couldn’t be made today.

Iron Eagle — melodramatic, but a great movie. I think it gave Gossett a fine platform.
