SCTV in its heyday was easily the funniest thing on TV - Flaherty, Eugene Levy, Dave Thomas, Rick Moranis, John Candy, Katherine O'Hara...NBC used to put them on after the vastly inferior Saturday Night Live, which was a shame - They did that ON PURPOSE to kill SCTV which was a vastly SUPERIOR comedy show to SNL. However, the SCTV comedy skit have a much great staying power because they were generally not topical and pretty much avoided politics.
