Iran warned United Nations Security Council envoys to expect retaliation against Israel’s apparent bombardment of a diplomatic facility in Syria that killed several Iranian military commanders.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran has exercised considerable restraint, but it is imperative to acknowledge that there are limits to such forbearance,” Iranian envoy Zahra Ershadi, the regime’s deputy representative to the United Nations, said Tuesday afternoon. “The occupying regime must bear full responsibility for its consequences. Iran reserves its legitimate and inherent right under international law and the United Nations Charter to take a decisive response to such reprehensible acts.”

“Do not call others to de-escalation and pin the labels of aggressors on the victims of the attack,” Russian Ambassador Vasily Nebenzia said Tuesday in a rebuke directed at U.S. and British officials. “In this context, any potential escalation in the situation will be fully on your conscience.”

Methinks they have a few already.

What “right” do Iranian jihadis have to be outside the country’s borders?
Israel has apparently hit Damascus again a few hours ago.

Iran boasts it exercised considerable restraint.

Paying for the Houthis to endanger and harass shipping* so only a minority of shippers are now going through that vital chokepoint for important international loads.

*Washington Post: Almost one-fifth of U.S. freight arrives at East Coast ports after transiting the Red Sea and the Suez Canal, according to Moody’s. Solar panels, electric-vehicle batteries, toys and vacuum cleaners are among the goods making that trip.
AP story January, 2024:
How did the Houthi attacks affect shipping?
The normal route — three weeks via the Suez Canal — has been shut down by the Houthi attacks. Rerouting to the Panama Canal didn’t work either — the shipment was stymied there by the drought-related mess. Now, it might have to cross the Pacific to Los Angeles and come by truck or train to Maryland.
Israel might do just that.

I don’t see the link to the Ukraine war. What do you think it is?
Why am I not surprised? Russia and China are members of the New Axis, along with Iran so why wouldn’t they do this? What would Hitler have said if the Italian Embassy was hit in Madrid? As Little Kim is a want-to-be member I am surprised he didn’t speak up first. That being said; Israel should not have hit The Iranian embassy—that’s against the rules. Now Iran can hit the Israeli embassy anywhere in the world or even hit Israeli soil itself. Bad president to set. Looks like WW III may start in the Middle east or Ukraine—its inching closer with each day. I almost want to bet when the balloon goes up in a poll. Who picks June? July? August? September? October? My money is on August (like WW I).
