Mom faces 55 years behind bars for 98 mph crash that killed her 3-year-old girl: ‘Steering a missile down the road

A Maryland mom faces up to 55 years behind bars for killing her 3-year-old daughter in a crash while driving at almost 100 mph – in what prosecutors described as “steering a missile down the road in the middle of rush hour.”

DanShell Evon, 38, was recorded driving her three kids at 98 mph — well over twice the speed limit — seconds before her 2015 Kia Optima slammed into a Ford F-150 truck in Silver Spring in May 2022, WJLA reported.

The mom and her two 13-year-old children suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the horrific wreck, as did two adults in the pickup truck.

But her 3-year-old daughter, Dreamie Dior Jackson — who was improperly secured in a backless booster seat — was killed, WJLA reported, citing the Montgomery County State Attorney’s Office.

Lotta Kamikaze drivers out there these days. They probably think that driving faster than hell will make it harder for drunken illegal aliens to crash into them.

Just saw kamikaze drivers in virtually every metro area on a cross country trip. If you aren’t doing 10 over the limit on the Interstates, you are a speed bump. But there are drivers who will cut and weave through that traffic doing 20+ MPH faster, like they were running from the Devil himself. Unreal.

I hope the courts send the message that drivers bear the responsibility for their actions.

The stats on speeding drivers are grim. They contribute to a massive bulge in damage and injury.

Definitely more bats out of hell on the roads than before the lockdowns.

... it was the third car Jones had totaled in speeding crashes over the last 11 months.

Seems to me they should have taken his license away long ago. You just can't erase three lives from this Earth and plead Not Guilty with a driving history like his. He needs to sit in jail for several decades to think about what he's responsible for.

If only she had requested her baby to be killed as she was being delivered, this wouldn't even be a story. I am not justifying this woman's actions which were absolutely unforgivable. But Monkey County Md. is a liberal bastion, and I'm somewhat surprised that she faces 55 years, when she would be applauded if she had aborted her baby. The hypocrisy is what I am railing against here.

There is not enough information to judge her as a POS either, because I don't know what the circumstances might have been for her to act so irresponsibly behind the wheel. Though I can think of only a few instances might warrant justification. But they are all extreme circumstances to be sure.

Now she is without question a POS, if having to live with the outcome, brings no pain to her whatsoever.

the kamikaze drivers aren’t just on the freeways or expressways. Ive encountered them on city streets using the “suicide lane” as a passing lane. Its friggin madness.

Another kamikaze thing here in sac is during traffic coming up to a light and using the turn lane to jump in front of all the traffic when the light turns green.

I’m actually extremely bothered by the father saying he forgives this POS all the while he pleads “not guilty”.
To me he’s almost as much a POS, virtual signaling on the grave of his wife and children.

It does not surprise me at all that someone was going 98 MPH. It is a common speed on out interstates these days.
I was going south on a Sunday afternoon on I93 south in NH going between 75-80 MPH. I was getting passed at times like I was standing still.

At one point I was in the left lane(of four) doing 80 mph and a motorcycle passed us that had to be going at least 120 mph. Then he was weaving in and out cars up ahead of us. I thought for sure he was going to crash, but he did not.
