Oh, yes. The defense successfully argued that the police were racist, and tried to frame Simpson. That argument gained traction because one of the LA detectives, Mark Fuhrman, is a total piece of garbage.

Fuhrman previously used racist language. And he tried to claim a job disability because he hated blacks. He’s trash, complete trash. Because of him (and the prosecutor’s incompetence) a filthy murderer walked free.

I was living in Tennessee at the time. That idiot Furman was trying to get into the panties of a pretty reporter for the Nashville Tennessean and was bragging how they (LAPD) routinely framed suspects, etc.

The attack on Mark Fuhrman should never have been allowed by Judge Ito, a menace to the law in a black robe. As a rule, evidence of bad character or conduct is not allowed to be admitted to attack the credibility of a witness in court. There is a limited exception for evidence as to the reputation of a witness for truthfulness, but that was not applicable as to Fuhrman.

Why is there such a rule? In the real world, people are flawed and there are few saints. The rules of evidence help assure that court cases are focused on evidence is logically and factually pertinent. When Judge Ito let Fuhrman's unrelated bad words be admitted as evidence, he let the case go off the rails and gave the jury a basis for giving O.J a race pardon. The greatest blame is on Judge Ito, not Mark Fuhrman.

None of what you said mattered. That jury would have acquitted Simpson if there was video of him doing it. It was stick it to whitey time and it is that simple.
