Traveling with a dog can be challenging, and one dog brand is helping to change that.

BARK, known for their subscription BarkBoxes and dog products, announced on Thursday, April 11 that they’re launching a new travel service, BARK Air.

In partnership with a charter jet company, BARK Air is designed to prioritize four-legged travelers, followed by their humans, so they can travel together comfortably and conveniently.

At launch, routes will serve the New York City metro area via Westchester County Airport (HPN) with flights to the Los Angeles area via Van Nuys (VNY) and London, England via Stansted Airport (STN). BARK Air’s first flights will take off from New York on Thursday, May 23

A niche product like the now defunct Hooters airline.

Where are the dogs going to the bathroom? Will a person who paid the full fare and shows up with a cat be refused boarding, isn't that discriminatory? What will the pet food be like? Will it be standard airline fare, like dry dog food?

Don't get mad at just reporting, and on CBS radio says a one way ticket is $6,000.

Do the humans ride in a cage in the cargo deck? Who cleans up the poo? Will there be a common fire hydrant for all to leave their scent on?

Yup, it was $6,000 when this story was posted last week, too.

That's the normal price to charter a private business jet. This 'dog centric' angle is just a gimmick.

NetJets has allowed pets on their chartered flights for a very long time now.

“Traveling with a dog can be challenging”

Not at all. Just do what a bunch of jerks do and buy a “service dog” and play make believe.

Will there be first-class seating and economy seating and business seating (business for those that need to do their business on the plane). Will the seats be able to recline? Will there be specialized seating for the many different sizes of dogs (small, medium. large, extra-large). What kind of drinks will be available? Who gets the window seats or aisle seats?

Will there be different prices depending dog sizes? Will dogs that bark a lot be allowed to bark their hearts off, or will they be taken off the planes? Will there be a dog marshal onboard (a real dog)? Will flight attendants be dogs too? Will there be a dog pilot and dog co-pilot?

Well I hope the clean up crew is well paid, I knew of a chiauhua that peed everywhere, and wouldn’t stop barking, well I guess the cockpit is soundproofed. The poor flight attendants.

True!

One can hardly go to a supermarket or restaurant without seeing a dog there.

But to be fair, the dogs are cleaner than many people. WalMartians for example.

We have friends that fly private exclusively so they can bring their pup with them - in the cabin.

Will they have bomb-sniffing people for the dog’s luggage?

Terrible insult to dogs. Hillary isn’t as smart as a cocker spaniel.

Very interesting. Decades ago, I flew back and forth between Miami and Seattle so often that some of the stewardesses knew my cat Herb. He was “such a nice cat” he was allowed out of his crate and got to sit next to. me.

My dog flew with the luggage though. Very stressful for Joe Corgi. especially the time his crate fell off the conveyor belt, broke open, and the baggage guys chased him down the runway where planes were taking off.

Bark Airlines is definitely the way to fly with your dog,

Where are the dogs going to the bathroom? Guide dogs fly with their owner/handler in the passenger cabin on airlines all the time.

Does a well trained dog “hold it in” all day while its owner is at work? In most cases yes. So why hot on a flight?
