(snip) "Made in PRC" is an abbreviation for "Made in the People's Republic of China." It's a way of subtly indicating a product's Chinese origin while avoiding direct association with the full country name.

China, known for producing both high-quality and low-quality goods, has faced challenges related to its reputation for mass-producing inexpensive products.

To counteract negative perceptions and cater to consumer preferences, many Chinese manufacturers have turned to the "Made in PRC" label.

It’s not always easy, but I try to avoid buying Chinese-made products. It’s not a quality thing for me. It’s a political thing. Nowadays I’m seeing “Made in PRC” labels as well as “Made in China”. Tricky folks, those ChiComs.

Perhaps some people are unaware. So I thought it was worth a heads-up. PRC=ChiComs. Same thing.

The linked article comes from a site that helps companies move to China (boo). However, it has the best discussion of the PRC labeling that I could find.

Avoid anything made in China.

They put lead in the lining of baby bibs and in the paint of Thomas the Tank Engine toys.

They have been poisoning us with crap for years.

Be aware they’re trying to put ‘taiwan’ in some product names.

such as canned “taiwan bubble tea”, you have to read the fine print to make sure it’s not chinese poison

they also put japanese characters on some products, just be vigilant.

My WWII vet dad was not happy when I’d blow my allowance on some cheap piece of crap from the dime store with the “Made in Japan” label. The more subtle approach was to label products as “Imported”.

It means “Profits from this sale help fund the Peoples’ Liberation Army”.

You raise a very important point. China doesn’t care if they are exporting dangerous products to us. Perhaps they even prefer it that way.

A number of years ago a Chinese company was caught putting low-formaldehyde labels on flooring that was loaded with formaldehyde. I wonder how many American homes are slowly being contaminated by that flooring.

Well in their defense they’re not going to put “Made by Sweet and Sour Nazis”.

Americans would be surprised and dismayed to learn how little of what they think that is still "Made in the USA" is actually not.

I walk the assembly lines of the major Ag players. Whether green or red, they are assembling the equipment from tubs of parts sourced in India or China.

Lets not forget the toxic gypsum board that was used to rebuild homes damaged by hurricanes in the south.

That’s about the only high-quality product they make nothing lasts long when made in China.

But they keep the recycling companies in business.

Made in China, Made in PRC?

As opposed to made by murdering communist scumbags?
