130 JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating a gun battle that led to a stray bullet hitting a school bus carrying children on Dr. Roy Baker Street near UF Health Jacksonville in the Hogan’s Creek area on Monday.
Tempers erupted among parents and neighbors and they requested anonymity for fear of becoming a target of gun violence for speaking out.
“A school bus. Those are kids. They shoot at each other. Come on now, that’s frustrating. We got kids. We don’t want our kids to grow up like that. I don’t care what side of town it’s on,” a neighbor said.
JSO said that as the school bus pulled into a nearby apartment complex, two individuals were exchanging gunfire and a bullet hit the front windshield of the bus.

And when the police take action they’re accused of police brutality......I don’t blame the cops...minority communities are notorious for refusing to provide police with information.....well, that’s what they get.
When I first moved to Jacksonville back in 1981, I was offered a job and accepted on a Wednesday and was told I needed to start on Monday, I had to move from Gainesville.
I went out and got an apartment very close to where I would be working and that was in this area, it wasn’t a nice area back then and I got out of there at the first opportunity and moved over the Baymeadows which was really nice back then.

Back then Baymeadows Apartments were built around Baymeadows Country Club, the section I lived in was full of young professionals, I dated a girl who was my age that was employed by IBM, they had basketball courts, tennis courts, jogging trails, etc...it really was a nice play to live.
As you said, Baymeadows now is just deadbeats, prostitutes, and drug users and the same bad element that ruins everywhere they land.

I was in my 20s in the 80s and spent a lot of time in Baymeadows as I worked in the Baymeadows industrial park for 6 years.
Back then there was a great sports bar, comedy club and a lot of good restaurants.
A few years ago there was a story about the JSO chasing a perp through the BW3 wing bar on
Baymeadows road......I knew then that area had turned into a crap hole.....and sadly Mandarin is in the direct path of the blight.
Frustrated? I’d be on the hunt. Frustrated? What the hell is wrong with these people?
Probably more about culture and lack of parental upbringing than anything else.
All due respect to single parents but it will never be as effective as BOTH parents being present, engaged and setting a PROPER example for the kids.
