Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s sacred work a guide for DEI initiatives

In 1963, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. released his third book “Why We Can’t Wait,” which captures how activism by African Americans from the spring and summer of that year accelerated social change.

“Why We Can’t Wait” was written at the conclusion of key national events that exposed deep racial injustice and vast economic inequality to help wake many Americans from slumber.

“Human beings with all their faults and strengths constitute the mechanism of a social movement,” he wrote. “They must make mistakes and learn from them, make more mistakes, and learn anew. They must taste defeat as well as success and discover how to live with each. Time and action are the teachers.”

What part of MLK's quote, "Men should not be judged on the color of their skin, but on the content of their character", did this "professor" not understand?

This is BS. MLK Jr. would roll over in his grave if he knew he was being associated with DEI and BLM and all of today's bias, bigotry, and discrimination. And LGBTQ+.

They might as well say Washington, Lincoln, Reagan and Kennedy, etc. supported all of this trash.

The fabulous talent that came from the Harlem Renaissance rose from pride and community not any need for reverse racism.

King was a pretty despicable guy behind the facade, I wouldn’t put him in that company, except for Kennedy.

Not me. I think the true talents that inspired others would never have done the work if they had the DEI crutch. Prince was a student of all musicians he had the intellectual curiosity and natural talent.True talent didn’t need DEI.ie Ben Carson.

“Why We Can’t Wait”

Because for little children and revolutionaries, everything must be right now.

Michael "Martin Luther" King's legacy is burning cities and institutional racism.

I guess I'm younger than you or not racist or whatever leaves that negative view. Sure, he wasn't perfect but I was 8 when he was murdered, I grew up with the big picture views of color blind society, merit, etc. All of the sorid details to dismiss him and that message was unseemingly at best.

Put another way, do you have a problem with a color blind society and merit?

I've never read anything whatsoever where MLK Jr promoted racism. That was left to Louis Farrakhan.

Not Racist at all. Fredrick Douglas was a true Prophet of GOD, one of the greatest Americans, and deserves the day. King did ENORMOUS damage to the American black Church.

B.B. King would have said that DEI was “help I don’t need”

Real gifted and talented people don’t need DEI no matter what your victimhood is. Everyone has talents and need to cultivate their gifts and passion.

No, not really:

https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/4210407/posts

One of the most common tendencies of human nature is that of placing responsibility on some external agency for sins we have commited or mistakes we have made. We are forever attempting to find some scapegoat on which we cast responsibility for our actions. ... And so modern man was convinced that psychology had given him explanations which relieved him of any responsibility for his actions.

...

We are all familiar with the most common agencies on which we project responsibility for our actions. First we turn to environment. How easy it is for one to affirm that one’s whole personality make-up and indeed one’s very destiny itself is determined by one’s environment... Yet such persons as this fail to realize that many individuals rise from the very lowest of environments to be some of the most noble characters of human history.

....

Another external agency on which we readily cast responsibility for our actions is heredity. There are those who would affirm that one is completely determined by heredity. How easy it is to say, “I would have been better if I had had better hereditary circumstances.”

Here again those who project total responsibility for their actions on hereditary circumstances fail to see that numerous individuals rise above such circumstances.

...

Not environment; not heredity; but personal response is the final determining factor in our lives. And herein lies our area of responsibility.
