The House has renewed its push on legislation that would ban TikTok if its Beijing-based parent company doesn’t divest from the popular social media platform, escalating the fight over the hot-button issue.
The TikTok legislation, which was included in a package of bills that would send aid to Ukraine and Israel, could become law as soon as next week if Congress moves quickly.
In March, the House passed legislation that would require ByteDance, TikTok’s parent, to sell the platform within six months, or face a ban in the United States.
But some senators, including the Democratic Senate Commerce Committee Chairwoman Maria Cantwell, had expressed concerns that the six-month deadline would be too short to carry out a complex deal that could be worth tens of billions of dollars. Following negotiations with the Senate on the issue, the House included a modified version of the legislation in the foreign aid package as leaders worked to win over votes for those bills.

Johnson didn’t stick border security in the fund Ukraine Bill. He stuck tic tok in. So the Senate will amend the bill, take it out, and stick some more goodies in. Johnson could probably get another 10% cut to sell us out another time and take the amended bill. We need to get ‘er done. If you heard the IC briefs on what the Ruskies are up to it would raise the hackles on your neck.
Mike the Cuck flip flopper strikes again. And you are right.
We would have been better off with a RAT running the House.
It’s a good site, a quality product, the content is by far positive decent and it’s probably the best social media out there. It’s big problem is that Zuckerberg doesn’t own, it’s destroying his awful products, and the FBI doesn’t get a back door and a desk.
when does the Wall go up - to keep Americans IN?
Banning anything owned, part owned or controlled by the CCP is NOT about disrespecting Freedom of Speech.
I’ve been using Tik Tok for the past few months and I came to some conclusions:
There are no videos that I could find that would be of any benefit to the Chinese in terms of spying nor any Chinese propaganda. They have videos of people playing video games, people showing off their pets, cooking videos, people playing sports, comedy videos, movie clips, music videos
Then I noticed something odd: There seems to be quite a lot of pro-Trump videos and a lot of anti-Biden videos, quite a lot.
Now I know why they want to ban it.
Well don't be coy. Tell us, then we'll know and we'll stop making such a fuss about it all.
Or, let me guess: First, a replay of the Katyn Forest massacre, just for a warmup. Then settle some old scores with the Krauts, because the last time wasn't enough. Then the Baltics and the rest of eastern Europe, and then... onward. Down into Spain, Portugal, Italy and the Balkans, (Warm water ports!) and across the English Channel and then on to Iceland and Greenland. Meanwhile south into all the STANs in western asia. Yeah, they can pull that off.
Or so the CIA says.
Am I close?
If TikTok is doing something wrong, it should be told/required/forced to stop doing that wrong.
Otherwise, it should be allowed to operate under Chinese ownership.
If American companies are being blocked from operating in China in a proper manner, the issues should first be discussed in a diplomatic manner.
Im all in for speaker Jefferies. The Repukes will complain and msybe obstruct as a Minority party because they like to pretend they are on the side of the people. It’s much more likely that they vote against a bill like this if Speaker Jefferies proposes it. When Speaker Johnson proposes a Jefferies bill they are all on board. A little dissapointed that Trump didnt go all in against this crap and against Johnson.
I presume you are directing that at the IC and not at me who despises this whole corrupt mess.
Next time, it would be helpful to put quotes on remarks you wish to ascribe to another person, or use the customary sarcasm tag, or both.
Sorry. It’s an itchy posting finger that I can’t control.
Whatever. I don’t consider it worth fussing over, frankly.
