Largest Christian university in U.S. fined $37 million ... coincidence or targeted attack?
American Family News ^ | Apr 22, 2024 | Sarah Holliday

Christians have watched as the Biden administration attacks biblical views left and right, with a particularly vehement disregard of the sanctity of life and marriage. As such, it can’t be too surprising that Cardona, a part of this leftist administration, has “vowed” to shut down America’s largest Christian university.

In late October, GCU was hit with “a $37.7 million fine brought by the federal government over allegations that it lied to students about the cost of its programs,” AP News reported — an accusation GCU President Brian Mueller described as “ridiculous.” Around the same time, Liberty University, America’s second largest Christian university, was also fined $37 million “over alleged underreporting of crimes.”

GCU appealed its fine in November even though a hearing is not expected until January 2025. But the question Mueller has is one of integrity. Is this genuine consideration for the well-being of students, or is this a targeted attack against religious institutions?

“It’s interesting, isn’t it, that the two largest Christian universities in the country, this one and Liberty University, are both being fined almost the identical amount at almost the identical time?” the college president speculated in a speech. “Now is there a cause and effect there? I don’t know. But it’s a fact.”

Rest assured, President Mueller, this is no coincidence.

Notice the strong stand against this sort of harassment by elected Republicans.

Targeted attack.

The government is explicitly anti-Christian.

The government is also tacitly anti-Jewish.

Plan accordingly.

2 planes flew into the Trade Towers. This is most definitely a targeted attack.

I went to grad school at a state university. A large one. The crime report one year was a couple of stolen bicycles and a purse taken from an automobile.

That’s absolutely ridiculous. You mean all those young women 18-22 years old and there was not one pervert who tried to do anything to them? Not even once? Really?

(The university was never fined.)

Yet, isn't that the line of thinking the regime is using to "justify" transferring student loans to us taxpayers??

My alma mater, Christendom College, is not large, but she also does not take a dime of federal money. The school runs her own student loan program. That has helped keep the school clear of these sorts of problems so far.

Demon Driven liberals, with their stinking sulfur breath, are drooling over the thought of destroying them- May the left fall into their own traps that they have built to use against God’s people!

Well, they can create problems even in this case. Lying to students as of the cost of degree can be prosecuted even if the college does not take a penny of guv. money.

GCU “crime” was that they voluntary disclosed expected cost of a degree. And the cost was right. Just kind of optimistic.
PhD degree is kind of open ended degree. It can take a very long time, or if you are genius and if you get good advisor, it may take no time.
So, really, it is hard to estimate cost of PhD degree and it usually takes longer and so it is usually more expensive that originally thought.

So , basically, nobody knows beforehand how much PhD degree will eventually cost.

Practically every University can be prosecuted for this “crime”!

Christendom is just a four year college. Although there is an associated graduate program it really isn’t part of the college proper.

The tuition is clear, you may or may not get some combination of loans, work-study, scholarship (I got a free ride on tuition my senior year, but they required me to live on campus and pay for their food.) Beacuse it is a small liberal arts college, there just isn’t a lot to fudge.

GCU is only 15 miles from me. It looks to be well-run. If “misrepresenting” costs is a crime, I should have had the feds go after my first college, the University of Chicago, which had a Pell Grant for $500 as part of my financial aid, when it turns out I didn’t qualify. Also, $1,300 in “work/study”, only I had to find the job! I didn’t make anywhere near $1,300 that way.

I had very similar experience with the same University of Chicago. Very long time ago. I guess they keep getting away with this. Maybe we should report?😜

No, it is not a crime.
Crime is to be a real Christian University!
Both Obama and Biden are trying to bankrupt any and all independent teaching institutions.
If GCU was teaching DEI, nobody would penalize them!

At least Liberty University allows its students to keep their guns on campus.
They have the opportunity to defend themselves when the real attack comes.
