(Randy Kuhl) Retiring?

Rumors are flying around Washington D.C. on whether or not Congressman Randy Kuhl is ready to call it quits. Kuhl's name was brought up in a blog posted on Yahoo News Thursday. The Real Clear Politics blog appeared on numerous websites. It says, in just the last few days' five Republican members of the House told House leaders they will not seek reelection this fall. Insiders are saying more are to come.

But, is Randy Kuhl one of those members?

That question was put to Kuhl during a taping of Coleman and Company. Kuhl would not confirm or deny the rumor. “It’s one of the problems that I face everyday, and that is the dissemination of untruthful information” said Kuhl.

Kuhl said he will make the decision on whether or not he will run for Congress again in the next few months.

I wouldn’t mind seeing this RINO retire, but it looks like there will be another open district to defend.

Nasty nasty Dems in that district. One of the most vicious elections I have seen...although WNY has more than its share.

Kuhl is a pretty reliable Conservative—hope he sticks it out.

Kuhl was called a RINO by his more-conservative primary opponent in 2004 (a Rochester county legislator named Mark Assini IIRC), but Kuhl is actually quite conservative on most issues (although he’s not solid on environmentalism). BTW, the NY GOP congressional delegation had 9 members in 2006, 6 pro-lifers and 3 pro-aborts, and now has 6 pro-lifers and 0 pro-aborts.

It sounds like he is reading the tea leaves and doesn’t want to expend time and resources in fighting a losing battle against the coming ‘Rat tidal wave.

He is anticipating, perhaps wrongly, that Obama will have long coattails. Of course, he knows his district, and for a Congressman, the coattails only have to reach one district, yours.
