Are There Young Conservative Candidates Out There? (Vanity)
Posted on 03/25/2008 7:32:16 AM PDT by trublu
Do we have enough young people to carry the flag of conservative values in public office for the next generation? Specifically, people who fit the following description:
- under the age of 50
- currently holds office or is a declared candidate for US Senate/House or Governor...or...
- merits being recruited for office
- holds all or most of these (or more) conservative principles:
- Pro-life
- Pro-2nd Ammendment
- Smaller goverment
- Lower taxes
- Fewer entitlements
- Secure borders
- Aggressively pursue war on terrorism
Know anyone who fits the bill?

I would’ve suggested Tim Pawlenty, but his little “fees” and push for drug coverage have raised my hackles.

I think Rep. Sam Graves (northwest Missouri) is pretty conservative on all the issues. However, he’s facing a real fight for re-election from the former mayor of Kansas City, who has been getting fundraising help from Pelosi and others.

Congressman Zack Wamp (R TN) just turned 50 but everything on the list fits him...

Oddly enough, there's a guy in Congress who (I think) meets all those qualifications even though his district is in one of the "bluest" parts of the nation -- New York City.
Rep. Vito Fossella (R) -- 13th District, New York.

Oh — and Fossella is about 43 years old, too.

I have always said that if rank and file Democrats re-examined their values, they would discover they have more in common with Republican (conservative) values than they ever suspected.
There are many conservatives out there in need of discovery.

Two Congressmen that I’m aware of off the top of my head are Greshman Barrett (SC) and Eric Cantor (VA). Both under 50, well-liked by voters, and strong Republicans.
To: trublu
Congressman Jim Jordan (Ohio), first term in the House a real conservative.
