In all honesty, Hoeven could be President in his own right. Of course, he has made no statements to fire up conservatives like Palin has and never faced what she went through.
Palin's my #1 pick and there's rumors that Hoeven would target Dorgan in the Senate.

The NRSC is heavily pushing Hoeven to run for Senate. Hoeven said he will make his decision in Sept or Oct. So we’ll know Hoeven’s intentions real soon.
