Snow doesn't dampen Mass. election fervor

BOSTON--Election Day dawned in Massachusetts with temperatures at freezing and light snow falling across much of the commonwealth. Predictions called for the snow to continue intermittently and mix with rain as temperatures rose, creating what weather forecasters called "a mushy inch or two."

The worse the weather, the larger the question of voter motivation looms over the race for a successor to Ted Kennedy in the United States Senate. Democrats are trying to motivate a base of loyal voters alerted--by sinking polls and the 11th hour visit of President Obama on Sunday--to the possible loss of what was widely regarded a safe seat.

"Every vote matters, every voice matters," Obama says in a new commercial that is part of a massive get-out-the-vote effort for candidate Martha Coakley, the state attorney general. "We need you on Tuesday."

The campaign of Republican candidate Scott Brown, a state senator, is reaching out to voters via traditional phone banks, but also aiming to marshal enthusiasm through the internet and social networking. Brown's Web site highlights a "voter bomb where supporters 'tell Scott Brown how many voters you will personally ensure show up and vote Tuesday.'"

"Don't Vote Alone," reads the page. After the supporter commits to assure a specific number of people will get to the polls, he or she is invited to enter the e-mail addresses of 10 friends.

The race has focused heavily on the national debate over health care; a Brown victory could topple the Senate majority Obama would likely need in order to push legislation to final passage.(continued)

Cautiously optimistic, but never underestimate the stupidity of MA voters, the corruption of the Democrats, or the power of the SEIU thuggery.

I’ve been out of work for 6 months now, with no end in sight, but for the first time since ‘The 0ne’ was anointed last year I actually feel a sense of hope.

How can you live on unemployment for so long?

Baloney!!! The worse the weather is, the more it will dampen DEMORATS from voting. The average demoRAT voter is dumber than dirt, and anything that will disrupt their lazy, non-productive, pathetic lives, such as a snowstorm, will just be more reason for them to stay home & watch daytime TV soap operas until the next welfare check arrives. Then they run out to stock up on more cigarettes, beer & potatoe chips.

All you heard was the 3:1 Democrat to Republican ratio. The problem with that was, nobody told them that most Democrats were fed up, too and were voting Republican.

It hasn't been easy. Being in construction I saw the writing on the wall so I rented out my condo and moved in with family, plus I had some savings (mostly gone now), I've also been able to find sporadic temp work and side work. That's been really spotty though. I've been over 3 states looking for steady work with no results.

As a long-time registered Massachusetts Republican, this may be the first time in my life where my vote will matter!

I am also optimistic because the previously productive and now unemployed people surely have time to vote now!
