Palin plays politician around Daytona 500

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Sarah Palin took a break from the snow and played politician on stock car racing's biggest stage.

Pretty important place on the political landscape, too.

The former vice presidential candidate and Alaska governor sped around Daytona International Speedway on Sunday, shaking hands and taking photos with drivers and fans alike before what she called the "all-Americana event."

Palin said she was "having fun and not thinking about the politics of this," but didn't miss the chance to energize her base in one of the most critical regions of the largest swing state.

"This is awesome," she said. "It's all-Americana event. Good, patriotic, wonderful event that's bringing a whole lot of people together. I think this is good for our country."

Sporting a black coat, blue jeans and heels — no hand notes — the self-described "hockey mom" got the full experience in her first visit to the Daytona 500.

She sat through the pre-race driver meeting, muscled her way through pit road, took to the stage on the infield and wished drivers a safe race. She drew roars from throngs of racing fans, many shouting "We love you, Sarah!"

--snip--

Even some of the biggest names in NASCAR and entertainment couldn't resist her.

Seven-time Daytona 500 winner Richard Petty posed for a photo, singers Tim McGraw and Harry Connick Jr. greeted her, and everybody from Army members and Marines to autograph-seeking fans and kids in wheelchairs got hugs and handshakes.

Crew members on pit road even took a break from changing tires, some stunned to see Palin walking through their familiar domain before the race.

"If you run (for president) in 2012, you've got my vote," one told Palin, shaking her hand.(continued)

I didn’t hear any boos. I doubt she forced her way into the venue. In fact, she must have been invited to speak. Darn those knuckle-dragging hick NASCAR fans. They probably drink beer and wave flags, go to church and stuff. No wonder they’re on Janet Napolitano’s watch list.

“no hand notes”...

The liberals are riding an insult that actually makes Palin look smart. She can give a 25 minute speech with 3 one-word bullets written down on her hand.

I bet she had about universal approval ratings in the NASCAR crowd. Another reason for tepid little liberal weenies to hate and resent her.

Next time a reporter does a report on Obama, they should say “Obama today spoke, without a teleprompter” the lamestream media really needs to come up with new material. I want to see Obama give a 45 minute speech with 3 words written on his hand. Funny how they don’t bring up Feinstein doing the EXACT same thing, except she used notes during a DEBATE

Funny how the AP and Google never accuse Hussein of “playing” politician! After all, he has had one HELL of a lot more practice over the past year than Sarah!

Obama has no idea what a NASCAR race is. He certainly is not a astute student of American history. We already know that!!! But, the dumbness is not only Obama related. Mike Wallace (NASCAR driver) took an sponser endorsement from socialist, left-wing Democrat, Obama worshiper, boot licker of America hating, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Kendrick Meek (running for USA Senate in Florida, he has no chance!!!) for the Saturday Daytona race. Talk about sleeping with the enemy, Wallace and his team owners are about as dumb as a human being can be. Shame!! Shame!! Shame!!
