Rove sees Palin as 'formidable' presidential candidate
The Politico ^ | October 24, 2010 | Josh Gerstein

Former Bush adviser Karl Rove said Sunday that 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin would be a serious contender if she runs for president in 2012, but he dodged a question about whether she would make a good president.

Asked Sunday on CBS's "Face the Nation" whether the former governor of Alaska was strong presidential timber, Rove took a pass.

"I don't know if she runs or not and if she would be a formidable candidate. But, look, there are going to be several geological ages that are going to come and go before the 2012 Republican presidential nomination fight gels," Rove said.

"Every one of these prospective candidates, if they decide to enter the race, has strengths that they need to work on magnifying and weaknesses that they need to endeavor to overcome — or challenges that they need to overcome. And we don't know how that's going to play out," Rove said...

Rove needs to curl up in a ball and live the rest of his life a lonely, despised, bitter man. Any GOP candidate that embraces him should be shunned.

The headline doesn’t match Rove’s actual quote. He seems to be saying he doesn’t know if she’d be a formidable candidate if she ran.

Palin will be very formidable. She’s a lock for (my guess) 25% to 35% of the conservative vote in the primaries. I don’t favor her as a candidate but she’s going to be tough.

I honestly think she has a clamp on much more than a quarter or third.

From my Crystal Ball: Rove, a two-faced bastard, will support Romney.

Palin, a real person, will clean house, winning the presidency and help us put America back together again.

Rove does not believe Palin to be “formidable” beyond her base, and should she find enough support among moderates and independents to be nominated by the republican party, Rove firmly believes she can be beat, by Obama, or a Hillary, or one of the retired democrat senators who got out last year.

Politico loves to divide conservatives and wants to stoke a war between Rove and us, Romney supporters and us, anyone and us. We have to be unflappable just to spite this trio;Rove, Romney and Politico.

Well Karlyrove, wouldn't you have to agree that Sarah Palin is the most THOROUGHLY vetted possible candidate in the history of the US? Wouldn't one think that the American ppl would know her strengths and weaknesses after 2 years of seeing her and hearing her message all over the TV and internet? He is such a maroon.

"I don't know if she runs or not and if she would be a formidable candidate.

That doesn't say what the headline says it says.

It used to be fun to talk about what a genius Rove was, because the Left was so scared of him. But the fact was, he was behind some of Bush's worst mistakes, and his tantrum after O'Donnell won has made it impossible to ignore the fact that he is not on the same page with GOP conservatives. He's a technician. He is not a principled conservative by any means.

I'm not particularly interested in anything he has to say. He outed himself. I think he's finished.

Just a hunch but I think Rove will serve the Huckster soon.

Why does Bill Clinton casting about for “relevance” in the wake of ‘94 spring to mind, here?

Go away, Karl. You’ve shown your hand.

Exactly — on all counts. Saying she is “formidable is Pudge Rove’s way of damning her with faint praise. Remember, this is the estrogen-driven little misogynist who, after Sarah’s stellar Repub Convention acceptance speech said it was, oh, all right, but, people (ie, Pudge) really wanted to hear about her pregnant teenage daughter. At which point, Pudge became all glassy-eyed and slack-jawed (doubtlessly fantasizing more about Levi than Bristol).
