Republicans looking for the anti-Romney: Big oppo for anyone with conservative cred who isn't Mitt
The Los Angeles Times ^ | March 6, 2011 | Doyle McManus

President Obama launched a vicious, underhanded attack on one of the leading contenders for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination last month: He praised former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney for launching a state-administered healthcare plan.

"I agree with Mitt Romney, who recently said he's proud of what he accomplished on healthcare in Massachusetts," Obama told the nation's governors.

Romney supporters winced, but his potential rivals for the Republican nomination were delighted. They've already taken to calling the Massachusetts healthcare plan "Romneycare," to remind conservative voters how much it resembles the "Obamacare" law they loathe.

Like the "tea party," the Obama White House, it appears, is hoping for a Republican candidate more conservative than Romney.

On paper, Romney should be the front-runner for next year's GOP nomination: He has experience, name recognition, broad popularity and plenty of money. But Republican strategists warn that because of "Romneycare" and other early flings with moderation, Romney lacks one important factor: fervent support from the strongly conservative voters who dominate the primary electorate in most states.

"I don't see any way he can become the nominee," said Eddie Mahe Jr., a former deputy chairman of the Republican National Committee.....

I was surprised to read this line until I saw it was the LA Times. Obummer will be destroyed by a real Conservative. McLame spent the whole campaign being Obummer lite. That was a disaster. As for the WH wishing for more Tea Party like candidates, what are they smoking? The TP handed Obummer his ass in the '10 midterms. They will destroy him in '12.

They can’t and won’t see that. They still believe the moderates are behind 0.. for them to recognize the Nov 2010 elections would destroy their world.

"But the details of the event are more than unseemly - they may, in fact, be illegal. Massachusetts's animal cruelty laws specifically prohibit anyone from carrying an animal "in or upon a vehicle, or otherwise, in an unnecessarily cruel or inhuman manner or in a way and manner which might endanger the animal carried thereon. "An officer for the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals responded to a description of the situation saying "it's definitely something I'd want to check out." The officer, Nadia Branca, declined to give a definitive opinion on whether Romney broke the law but did note that it's against state law to have a dog in an open bed of a pick-up truck, and "if the dog was being carried in a way that endangers it, that would be illegal."

"Dog on Roof? What Was It Like for Romney's Pooch? - Scientists Say Dog Likely Experienced Wind-Whipped, Uncomfortable Trip - "Before beginning the drive, Mitt Romney put Seamus, the family's hulking Irish setter, in a dog carrier and attached it to the station wagon's roof rack. e'd built a windshield for the carrier, to make the ride more comfortable for the dog,".. Jordan Kaplan, the owner of Petaholics, a dog walking service in New York City,
and a lifelong dog owner and dog lover, said Romney's actions were uncalled for"

"Romney's dog - This is a distinction Mitt Romney probably could do without, but he is surely the first presidential candidate to be attacked for putting a dog with diarrhea in a carrier and tying it to the top of a station wagon. Romney's defense: Seamus liked it. [like the citizens under Romney's RomneyCARE, etc.?] "

"As the oldest son, Tagg Romney commandeered the way-back of the wagon, keeping his eyes fixed out the rear window, where he glimpsed the first sign of trouble. ''Dad!'' he yelled. ''Gross!'' A brown liquid was dripping down the back window, payback from an Irish setter who'd been riding on the roof in the wind for hours. As the rest of the boys joined in the howls of disgust, Romney coolly pulled off the highway and into a service station. There, he borrowed a hose, washed down Seamus and the car, then hopped back onto the highway."

"Story about dog on car roof comes back to bite Romney - 200 comments from readers complaining of animal cruelty"

Romney's bad behavior Exposed by Seamus

"Romney Loses Nomination Over Dog Abuse? - Romney was traveling that summer with his wife, five sons, and Seamus to his parent's cottage on Lake Huron. But hours into the ride, Seamus apparently suffered diarrhea, which ran down the back window of the car. .David Kravitz wrote on BlueMassGroup, a liberal blog. "It also strikes me as classic Romney: it solves a problem efficiently, in a business-like manner, and with no regard whatsoever for the suffering that the solution may cause."

Of course Obama loves Romney.

Government healthcare? Check.

Gay marriage? Check.

Taxpayer subsidized abortion? Check.

Says one thing and does another? Check.

But what he loves most about Romney is that he is unelectable.

Dog on Roof? What Was It Like for Romney's Pooch?

Probably felt a lot like riding a motorcycle.

The dog angle is stupid. Let's stick to the main point: he's a flip-flopping RINO and his system formed the basis for the wildly unpopular Obamacare bill.

“Like the ‘tea party,’ the Obama White House, it appears, is hoping for a Republican candidate more conservative than Romney.”

Wow, you sure gave away your strategy with this line. Make the opposition think Obama wants to run against a conservative, so they don’t run one, because you know a conservative would destroy Obama in the election.

How obvious can you get.

I’ve been planting this message in media forums:
The liberals are pushing Romney who failed in 2008. Nobody wants a billionaire globalist who bought Burlington Coat Factory and delivered the land to the Islamists to build the Jihad Victory Mosque at Ground Zero. Romney has a better change of getting hanged than President.

Gov. Sarah Palin is our next President. She told the truth about Obamacare, including death panels, about his radical administration, wealth distribution, and that he’s woefully unworthy and dangerous to be President. She has the intelligence, courage, family-oriented, faith-based, and optimism to rally our country again.

The Democrats will tell him he’s done and they’ll try to win with Hillary, who is just another UN lapdog Socialist.

Nothing has changed since November. The people aren’t moving to the center. Socialism has failed again.

Gov. Palin wins 46 states.

I think the best ticket is Palin/West.

"How did Mitt make his money?"

Inherited a lot of it. His dad was George Romney, a big wheel in auto-maufacturing detroit.
